BlackportAdvisory Group
We stay until it's true.
An operating partner to owners. We take the seat, own the numbers, and answer for the result.
The firm
We work on structure, because structure is what fails.
Businesses rarely fail on the idea. They fail because the owner is the system, margins go unmanaged, and nobody can say which parts make money.
That pattern is identical in a restaurant group, a construction company and a hotel. The vocabulary changes. The mechanics don't. We are sector-agnostic and situation-specific.
The domain expertise is yours. The operating architecture is ours.
What we do
We work at four points in the life of a business.
Method
We examine seven systems, and we require evidence for each.
The same seven in every industry, because the failure pattern is the same in every industry. A level is only awarded if the evidence can be produced in the room.
The scorecard
We score the business out of forty, and the number decides the work.
Three of the seven are load-bearing in each situation and count double. What comes out is not an opinion — it is a position on a scale, and the same scale a buyer will apply.
Below 22 — the business does not transfer at a normal multiple. The gap is the discount.
The weighting, the evidence standard and the sheet itself stay in the room. What is public is the scale, and the fact that we hold to it.
How we engage
Every engagement begins with the diagnostic.
Fixed fee, two to four weeks. It ends in three moves ranked by value released per week of effort, a first ninety days with names and dates against each line, and a straight answer on whether we should execute it.
We put part of the fee at risk against defined results. We never bill hourly.
Who we work with
Sector-agnostic. Not client-agnostic.
We work with owners who control the business, who have enough scale that a point of margin is worth chasing, who grant real authority rather than observer status, and who will change what the numbers require — including the parts they like.
Founder- and family-owned operating businesses · multi-site operators · developers and commercial property owners · family-office holdings · private equity portfolio companies · hotel and hospitality ownership groups
Refusal is the clearest thing we publish.
- We don't sell strategy without an execution path.
- We don't take engagements without real authority.
- We don't claim domain expertise we don't have.
- We don't take work outside our competence to keep the lights on.
We take fewer clients than capacity, deliberately.
Discreet about who. Precise about what.
No client is named without written permission. Results are published anonymized and quantified — a 90-employee regional services business; EBITDA margin from 6% to 17% in fourteen months; owner hours halved.
References are a conversation we arrange, not a logo we print.

A line about the business and what's happening in it is enough. You'll hear back from the person who would do the work.
